Special Issues:  The construction was staged to allow uninterrupted use of the existing church.  The contract was awarded on a negotiated bid, and working closely with the architect and the contractor in resolving field issues, the complex structure was completed on budget and schedule.

Schedule:  Construction was completed in 1999
WHAT HAVE BEEN ACCOMPLISHED:

JMEC has been structural engineer for preliminary and final design, including preparation of construction documents and providing construction support services for a 800-person church with a floor area of more than 15,000 sf designed by fame Architect Aaron G. Green.  The existing church has been modified to become an integral part of the new building.  Seismic design was in accordance with UBC including near field effects.

The hexagonal building was constructed of split-face masonry, steel and timber with translucent skylight.  The unique features of this building included a span of more than 100' without column and its unique architecture.
